     Just saying, if you're writing a songfic for a romantic, caring, rather fluffy sex scene... I really don't think you should use "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails (AKA the "I want to fuck you like an animal") song.

     Вообще очень интересно. Я ужасно городской ребенок. То есть я всю свою жизнь жила в довольно больших городах. В многоэтажных зданиях. Близко к центру. Для меня отдыхом было пойти погулять в толпе (кафе, набережная) или посидеть с книжкой. Мы знали ближайших своих соседей, но в целом шанса, что ты, если пойдешь гулять чуть дальше двора встретишь знакомых - не было. До любого магазина было идти пешком и близко. Если ты хочешь в театр или кино - то у тебя есть выбор из большого количества театров или кинотеатров, а если хочется не в кино, а на концерт - то где-то в городе скорее всего есть концерт. В крайнем случае есть 250 кафе и ресторанов.

    Сейчас я живу тоже в довольно большом городе. И вроде бы даже не совсем в пригороде. Но я живу в своем доме. У меня есть земля, двор, за которым надо ухаживать, огород, скотина. Если я выхожу на улицу, то со мной все здороваются. И я их действительно многих знаю. Если я отдыхаю - то это, скорее, будет прогулка по лесу, чем поездка в театр. В магазины надо обычно ехать. И покупать не одну булочку, как это было в городе, а еды сразу много на несколько недель, а то, что можно купить на несколько месяцев - мы купим на несколько месяцев.

    Многие мои родственники жили в академгородках. Их жизнь, с моей точки зрения, тоже являлась довольно деревенской, но когда я пыталась с кем-то это обсудить, они начинали переживать. В академгородках жили в квартирах. Но при этом у них в городке был один магазин (ок, может быть два), то есть продукты, которые они могли купить, были ограничены этим одним-двумя магазинами. Да, их хорошо снабжали, но тем не менее это было только два магазина. Они все друг друга знали. То есть если ты идешь в магазин - то там 10 твоих знакомых, а если ты стоишь в очереди - ты знаешь всех или почти всех. Кинтеатр один, там показывают хорошие фильмы, скорее всего, но выбора у тебя нет - если ты сегодня не хочешь смотреть Феллини - то ты не можешь пойти в другой кинотеатр и посмотреть Гайдая, потому что кинтеатр один.

    При этом я уверена, что то, как мы растем и живем формирует нас. То есть если человек не рос в городе - то ему в толпе может быть физически сложно и это может уменьшать его желание пойти в театр. Если человек не рос в деревне, то он не разбирается в растениях и заблудится в трех соснах.

    A note on adding new family members
     Guys. If you have a character who defines him or herself by a single trait and then introduce an OC or a character from a crossover who supersedes them, please don't expect that they'll be perfectly fine and comfortable with this. Typically, the only way that there wouldn't be some conflict there is if the first character is a saint or if the new character introduced acts as a mentor - and the first character is comfortable enough to accept them as such. Sure, there are exceptions to every rule, but for the most part a hint of jealousy or resentment at having been shown up is a pretty human response, even if it's only a quick flare up of emotion that soon goes away.

    You want to know when this will be of particular importance though? Try when it's an issue of family. A new family member isn't going away. Their introduction chances the family dynamic to a HUGE extent, especially if you're talking about immediate family members. A new sibling, a long lost parent or child - their presence is going to have a major impact for the vast majority of people, especially if they find themselves living with the newfound family member.

    And when you have a character who defines himself on his role within his family and is suddenly superseded in it? Yeah, you've got a mess just waiting to happen. Case in point, you want to know who's probably not going to happily embrace a new older brother? Dean Winchester.

    Dean was suspicious enough when the concept of a potential new younger brother came up; an older brother, and especially one who tries to take care of Dean, isn't going to find an automatic acceptance. And that's not even going into how Dean would react to Sam having a new older brother all of a sudden! Dean takes his role as the older brother quite seriously and is one of the few things about himself that he takes pride in. Add to this the fact that Dean honestly seems to have no idea how to let himself be taken care of and you've got a disaster in the making.

    For that matter, remember how Dean deals with conflict, especially when it's in regards to his family: he internalizes it and then he gets angry. Yes, he goes incredibly quiet when he's truly hurt, but if you look at his canon responses, that is only after he goes all the way through furious first. It could be a fascinating idea and it's actually one I'd love to read but please, guys, keep Dean IC while writing it.

    In fact, please keep any character IC when adding a new sibling or parent. People aren't always thrilled to have the new addition to their family, especially if they meet as adults. Sometimes they are thrilled, but the reality of getting to know a stranger and to immediately love them as a sibling can be difficult. Sometimes that love comes along, but it's not an instantaneous event. It can happen! But like any major event that occurs within a family, it causes ripples that take work to resolve.

    Dragon Age: Origins PS3
     Does anyone know if this game is region free on the PS3? A friend of mine is PCSing to a new base this Friday & I got him hooked on the game today, but the shop on base isn't selling it & I'd like to buy him a UK copy as a present!

    So does anyone know if a UK copy would work on a US PS3 console? I only own a 360 so I'm clueless on anything PS3-related.

    And with that in mind:

    Dear particular reviewer:

    While most teachers will tell you that redundancy within a text is something you should avoid - and they are right to a degree - there is another side to redundancy that is often ignored and it doesn't necessarily have to be bad.

    It helps create a tone. Using some key words within your paragraphs and sentences will help you create a mood and a setting for a story. While it would be dangerous for a whole book to have the exact same tone because it can get boring, this can really help when it's a short story or, in this case, a one shot fic.

    I'm not saying that I succeeded within the fic, but I can assure you: I repeated words constantly within the fic knowingly. I'm sorry that it didn't work for you.

    However, if you mean the fact that I use the names of the characters rather than 'the blonde', 'the brunette', or thing like that, and thus the names appear rather frequently? Then I'm very, very sorry, but I'm going to keep on using names and keep the epithet to a minimum.

    The next time you write a fanfiction for Cloud and Aerith... put it under Cloud and Aerith!! I am so tired of clicking on a fanfiction that has been labeled as a Cloud and Tifa, under Romance and finding out that it's all about Cloud and Aerith. I understand the whole,"But, it's main focus is on Cloud and Tifa, and how Tifa is responding to Cloud and Aerith's romantic relationship..." Yeeeeeah. The ones that I'm complaining about don't involve or mention Tifa whatsoever.

    Being best friends + having great sex + doing fun stuff together =/= being married. It calls differently in real life (like "dating", "having long-term relationship", if you aren't actually married or living together?). Marriage of any form in general requires all this components but is not defined by them.

    Also, the thought. Acting “like old married couple” is not the same as “being married” either.

    Yandere? Nodoka FTW?!
     Umm, I'm not so sure why Nodoka would need to make a deal with Ritsu not to shut down the club just to see Yui cause really they live pretty close to each other. So as such, I do not see why she would need to threaten non-con with Ritsu. And in regards to another fic, given how Ui was serving tea for everyone in episode 3 I do not see why she'd be getting jealous of Yui's friend or her guitar.

    Crossovers- respect both canons, folks!
     So... you have a couple of characters who are good at killing the supernatural beasties out there. They know how to take down all sorts of nasties. They're also brothers- Sam and Dean Winchester.

    They're experts. In their own canon.

    You have another show where there are supernatural creatures that follow different rules, with people who know how to take them out. Those people are Buffy Summers and her friends.

    Do everyone a favor and don't portray Sam and Dean as idiots if they encounter some creature from Buffy.

    Seriously, don't. Sam and Dean are experts in their own canon. Just because what they do won't work in Buffy the Vampire Slayer world does not make them stupid.

    Also, you really have to work to make those two canons mesh well. The rules for vampires, werewolves, and demons are very different. You, buddy, just make it so the Winchesters are wrong about almost everything, and they only deal with minor threats- and that's not the way to do it.

    Of course, I think I've seen it done the opposite way, where the BtVS crew doesn't know what's out there, too. It's just as annoying that way, too.

     My first post and my camera battery is dead! Anyways, had a late lunch so we didn't cook dinner tonight. I got hungry while watching The Amazing Race. I nuked a couple of store bought egg rolls, and concocted my own "sweet and sour sauce", but it is more like "sweet and spicy". I mixed King Kelly Orange Marmalade and Sriracha...it is perfect!

    Games releasing around early December?
     In less than a month on December 4th, I turn that oh-so magical age of seventeen. I have been waiting for this birthday for a long time since it means that I can finally legally purchase a M-rated game. No more awkwardly dragging my father in to provide consent (though he was a sweetie for doing so). I was going to celebrate by purchasing a game for myself but I am unsure what to get.

    I am notoriously bad for remembering release dates so I was wondering if anyone knows of any games that come out around that time. It doesn't have to be M but that would make my purchase that much sweeter. I figured if I couldn't find anything, I would get Dragon Age: Origins but please, it you know of anything new and exciting that will come out around my b-day, please tell! Any system but a PC and it should be noted that I have Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2. I am up for any suggestions! ANY! I want to BASK in the glory that is my seventeenth birthday!

    FF8 Voice Clip- Anyone Know Where I Can Find It?
     Hey everyone, a long time ago- at LEAST a year ago, I discovered a sound clip that was comprised of several voices for the characters of Final Fantasy 8. It was an EXCELLENT clip and was done incredibly well for what I was expected. Unfortunately, even though I bookmarked it, my computer fried soon after and I've had a new computer for some time now.

    Thus, the bookmark is of course no longer in my archives or history and lately I've really been thinking about the clip. Have any of you heard it recently or know of a place I may be able to find it? I believe it was somewhere between four and nine minutes.

     Задачи этого типа оказываются довольно сложными для неподготовленных читателей. И даже кажутся им задачами на смекалку. На самом деле задача довольно механическая.

    Одна курица снесет целую корзину яиц за 30 дней. Другая - за 15. Третья - за 10. Потому что третья - это курица-рекордсменка.

    Вопрос - за сколько снесут целую корзину яиц три курицы вместе.

     Putting a character in a life or death situation is a great way to make another character realise how much they mean to them. You don't realise how much you love someone until you almost/think you lose them etc.

    It's not an original plot device but one that is fine and believable, except, you know when it isn't.

    Like when the characters are often put in such situations in canon and such feelings are not revealed.

    Not saying it can't be done but you need to work a little harder.

    Doll Orders
     Regarding my previous post about the doll orders, I've decided to keep the $5 off each additional doll special until December 31. If you order prior to that date, then the special applies to you, however; I wouldn't use this for gift-related stuff. If you intend to use a doll as a gift, I would order prior to December 1 (preferably within the next week, because ordering immediately prior to that date might not guarantee that it'll be finished in time and shipped out, unless you don't mind a your-gift's-not-here-yet sort of situation. :P )

     Well, I would love to play RE5 Mercenaries with someone. Playing it alone is kinda boring but whenever I host a game, most people who join me look intimidating with all their unlocked characters and SS ranks. o_o I've only unlocked every map except one. Leave PSNs here and I'll add =)

    You know, I'm not quite sure how you'd phrase it, but I think you need to warn in some way for the main character of a series eating one of the other characters (the one who most of the fandom, you included, ship him with) alive. Even if it's just a nightmare. I'd say warning for cannibalism might give the right impression even though it's not strictly correct.

    Especially since it was marked as a humour story and the previous nightmares had been light, funny, and mostly standard Mpreg shorts.


    Also, Smallville fandom, how is it possible that over half of all your rec links are broken? Is Google just giving me really old results? Has the fandom been dead for years (it doesn't seem to be)? It's not just the links leading to smallville.slashdom.com, either, because I've figure out how to fix that. Oh no. I've never seen such a wide array of 404 errors, domain-name-for-sale pages, and random apparently unrelated Japanese websites.

     Okay, I'm already planning for Thanksgiving. But, not the dinner itself.

    I wanted to ask you guys, what are your favorite ways to eat your turkey day leftovers? I want some ideas for this year. :D

    My favorite? Thanksgiving sandwich. Toasty bread, I crumble corn bread into it [I don't like boxed stuffing, which is what we use], gravy, turkey, mashed potatoes, and the bread is smeared with cranberry sauce.

    Omg....I want next week to be here already.

    And also! Is anyone doing an entirely trashy Thanksgiving? Show your menuuuuu. :D
